Unfortunately our classes are still suspended due to the covid-19 pandemic and we’re not yet sure when we might be able to start up again. Please check back here or our Facebook page for updates.
It will come as little surprise to you learn that all Scottish Country dancing classes in the St. John’s (Newfoundland) Branch are now suspended for the duration of the covid-19 pandemic public health emergency.
We don’t know when dancing will resume but we will post an announcement here and/or on our Facebook page when they do.
To all Scottish Country dancers out there: stay safe and be well.
Due to the continuing state of emergency in St. John’s, the Thursday night class will not go ahead this evening.
Fingers crossed, though, that both Branch classes will be back on schedule next week.
In view of the continuing State of Emergency in St. John’s, our Monday night class is cancelled tonight.
At present, we expect the Thursday night class to go ahead.
Also, for those who may not have been notified by email, the St Andrews Society have cancelled this year’s Burns Supper.
The Monday night class will not meet on October 14th (Thanksgiving), October 21st (Election Day), and November 11th (Remembrance Day).
Everyone is invited to attend the Thursday night class at St. David’s on the three weeks and those who have paid for the full term will not be charged the drop-in fee.
Lastly – save the date – our Fall Social will be a St. Andrew’s Night Social on November 30th. Watch for details.
The regular Summer dancing folk have decided that there should be dancing on Monday – Canada Day.
So, if your Canada Day plans are still flexible, consider adding a bit of social dancing to them.
Usual time and place: 7:30 pm at St. David’s Presbyterian Church Hall
Word has it that a programme of very Canadian dances will be danced!
Are you pining for a bit of dancing?
Pine no more!
Summer dancing starts this coming Monday, June 3rd, 7:30 pm at St. David’s Presbyterian Church Hall, Elizabeth Ave.
If you can’t come until 8pm, don’t worry about that.
The drop-in fee is $7.
Bring a dance to share with everyone if you like.
If you are travelling out of province and dancing somewhere else over the summer, this is a great chance to try out dances from a programme.
If you are a visitor to our province, you are most welcome to join us and to share a favourite dance from your group with us.
I regret and apologize for the late notice but our Galactic Overlords at Coruscant Crescent were not best pleased with this evening’s dance program. It has been changed to that shown below:
The program for our Social this Saturday is below along with a link to a video of the dance (for those who want to study up on the dances ahead of time)!

This year’s AGM is coming up tonight (April 29), at 7:00 pm at Wesley United. There will be dancing after the meeting.
And don’t forget the BIG DO, the MAY MAYHEM Social, on Saturday, May 4th, 7:30pm at Wesley ($10 at the door) – the finale to this year’s dancing.
Hope to see you out at one or both of these occasions.
